Due to the changing and challenging situation around COVID-19 in Winnipeg, WELARC will be conducting assessments ONLY ONLINE going forward. If you are booked for an in-person appointment in January, it will be cancelled and we will contact you by phone or email to schedule an online test. Please be patient as it may take us some time to do this.

COVID-19 Update:
Due to the changing and challenging situation around COVID-19 in Winnipeg, particularly in the downtown area, WELARC will be conducting a limited number of in person assessments in our office and continuing to offer online assessments as well. Our staff is working from home or downtown on a rotating basis and will respond to messages left on the phone or sent by email.
If you want to take language classes and need to set up an assessment or referral, the fastest way is to complete the WELARC Appointment and Information Tool. You can also leave us a phone message at 204-943-5387 and we will return your call as quickly as we can, or send us email at info@welarc.net . Please be patient as it may take us a little longer to respond.

Our staff will be working from home and will respond to message left on the phone or sent by email. We will continue online services, both assessment and referral in English and French.

WELARC is now doing assessments for English and French language classes again. You can take an assessment online or, in some cases, you can take a face to face assessment in our office. However, we are using some precautions to keep you and our staff safe. Please read the update below for more information.
English and French Assessments
You may be able to take an online assessment
Interested? Please complete the WELARC Appointment and Information Tool or call us at 204-943-5387 to see if you’re eligible. Leave a message with your name, number, and reason for your call.
To be eligible you will need to have
Desktop or laptop computer (NOT phone or tablet)
Headset with microphone and speakers
Web camera
Reliable internet connection
Familiarity with basic computer functions
Some people can take face to face assessments
Precautions WELARC is taking to keep everyone in the office safe

Plexiglass shields
Masks and gloves
Extra cleaning
Hand sanitizing stations
Limiting people
What to expect if you come in for a face to face assessment
Bring your own mask
Bring your own headphones
Bring your own water
Do not bring anyone with you. If you need a translator, we can phone a friend.

Special Announcement Re: Coronavirus (COVID-19)
Dear Friends,
WELARC (Winnipeg English Language Assessment and Referral Centre) is aware that the Coronavirus (COVID-19) is spreading and we want to ensure that our staff, partners, and clients are at minimal risk.
Therefore, on the advice of IRCC, we are cancelling all in-person services effective Tuesday March 17, 2020.
We will contact all affected clients by phone to assure them that we will reschedule as soon as it is safe to do so.
WELARC’s office will be closed to assessments and referrals, but some staff will be on hand in the office to answer questions by phone and email.
